UPGRADING TO A
GAS HOT WATER SYSTEM
If you're thinking about upgrading your low pressure hot water system to a continuous gas hot water unit, here are some of the positives you might experience once making the switch. Most of our customers love their new gas hot water unit and wish they'd made the switch sooner!
WHY SHOULD I UPGRADE TO A CONTINUOUS GAS HOT WATER SYSTEM?
-
Better water pressure
-
As long as your power and gas bills are paid, you can turn on the tap and always have hot water running
-
Potentially cheaper running costs. The unit is only using power and gas while the hot tap is running, rather than using power constantly to keep stored water heated
-
Free up cupboard or storage areas inside the home as the unit is bolted to the exterior of your house. Plus it's easy for a tradesperson to access for maintenance requirements.
WHAT's THE INSTALLATION COST?
Generally, the installation cost averages around $3,000 to 4,000 including GST. This also includes the cost of the unit, materials and labour.
You'll also need to get in touch with an electrician to provide power to the unit. Check with your electrician to get a ball-park cost to get things connected.
WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO CONSIDER?
Gas regulations may restrict some installation plans, with regards to clearances around openings to the building eg. opening windows, doors, vent outlets etc. Some gas regulators may require an upgrade, which is easy to arrange through your gas supplier, and it's free. We can advise if this is a requirements once we've completed the site visit or installation.
You'll need a gas supply to the house, using LPG bottles or a mains gas supply. Some gas companies have deals to get you onto a gas meter such as discounted installation costs.
